At the time of order, the vehicle owner / builder specifies the range of voltage the battery pack is (charging voltage and lowest operating voltage) and this information sets the parameters of the DC-DC converter design, eliminating the wide range front end and lowering overall cost as well. A vehicle battery is still required, but its capacity and size can be reduced as low as 13Ah. The use of a sealed AGM type vehicle battery offers improved performance and no maintenance.
